Enrollment is open until February 24
I wanted to start this newsletter with some of the big news: Fragments is open for enrollment until February 24, and you can join here at the current price. Read on for the full details.
Doing the work and getting it seen
Fragments started out as a way for me to express myself creatively, share what I know with the world, and hopefully unlock new perspectives and creativity for others. It's been such a fun, rewarding, and challenging journey, and I've learned a ton.
It's also something I've only been able to work on outside of my day job, so I've had to figure out how to fit everything in around other commitments. Full-time work, parenting a 3-year-old, running a family—this has been a proper challenge. It's something I've been reflecting on a lot lately.
I've often heard people say that building is easy, but getting it seen is hard. I've found that to be excruciatingly spot-on.
Since starting Fragments in early 2025, I've spent far more time marketing and promoting it than actually building it. Of course, that comes with the territory, but unlike building content, marketing can be something that's really hard to see results from.
I feel that if I'm not always actively marketing and promoting, then things get lost in the noise; and if I do it too much, people get annoyed and stop paying attention.
It's definitely taken a toll on me! Burnout is probably the most accurate description I can think of. The creative work has enriched me, but the marketing and promotion has drained me over the journey.
The plan
For 2026, I want to change that and make things more sustainable. Here's what's changing:
If you're an existing member, nothing changes for you—you'll just get more focused content creation. These changes are about sustainability so I can keep building Fragments long-term.
Fragments is a course
This may sound a little strange given that most people who join already call it a course, but I've had a lot of feedback from people who think I'm marketing it as an asset pack or a collection of shader art that I'm trying to sell, rather than a way for people to learn what's behind it all.
Content in Fragments is built as a learning path, so doing some clearer branding around it being a course is a better fit.
Enrollment-based model
This is the key change for sustainability. I'm going to periodically open enrollment for new signups about four times a year, for about two weeks at a time, instead of always-on.
Instead of constantly marketing while building, I can focus on creating during closed periods, then dedicate specific windows to sharing what's new. This removes the constant pressure of always being "on" for marketing.
Every time enrollment opens, there will be something new ready: techniques, utilities, sketches, configurators, or full creative coding projects. New content will be available immediately when enrollment opens.
Everyone who has joined keeps full access forever—that will never change. During closed periods, existing members access everything as usual; only new signups are paused.
New content and new price
I'm still going to share free content on the newsletter and on X, though perhaps monthly instead of more frequently. The focus will shift more toward Fragments content, but I'll still share insights, techniques, and inspiration regularly.
Naturally, the price will increase as more content is added. The current price remains until this enrollment window closes on February 24; after that, it increases for future enrollment periods.
Nothing changes for existing members—you keep full access forever, regardless of when you joined or what the price becomes.
Content plans
This is less of a roadmap and more of a plan for content I'm creating in 2026. Here's what's on the list in roughly the order I'm planning to create them:
- Fundamentals — Really diving into fundamentals on debugging TSL, editing variables at runtime, improving performance, and creating generative art systems. Members can see the sorts of things I'm working on in the fundamentals section.
- New techniques — From cellular automata and volumetric raymarching to audio reactivity (MIDI and FFT), these techniques have inspired me greatly in the past, and I'm excited to dive into them more deeply.
- New sketches — Things I've been working on for a while that I'm excited to share and show how they're made.
- Full component experiences — Component-style experiences you can drop into real projects: scroll rigs with distortion, hero animations, hover effects, and integrations with tools like Motion and GSAP. I've made and remade these many times in my professional work.
- Background configurators — Series of configurators like the Bands series, so you can tweak and export backgrounds at different resolutions.
When and how to join
Enrollment is currently open until February 24 — You can sign up at the current price until enrollment closes here
Enrollment will open roughly quarterly for about two weeks at a time—exact dates will be announced in the newsletter ahead of time. During those windows, you can sign up; between windows, the course is closed for new signups.
If you're already a member, you don't need to do anything—your access continues uninterrupted. If you've been on the fence, now's the time to grab access before the price goes up.
If you're reading this during a closed period, you can still browse the site, but new signups need to wait until the next enrollment window. Sign up for the newsletter to be notified when enrollment opens again.
That's a lot of information, and I hope you'll stick with me over the year. I'm really excited to see where this goes, and I'm looking forward to sharing more with you all.
As always, please reply to this email with any questions, feedback, or thoughts you have. I'm always looking for ways to improve and make things better for everyone.
